ELAZIG – 2021, Page: XII+97 The feeling of burnout is not a short-term, temporary situation, but the individual's reluctance towards his work. Although it occurs as a result of anxieties at work, it does not occur as a result of anxiety in the work environment; It occurs as a result of the stress experienced at work and cannot be coped with and is seen as a professional threat. Due to working conditions, not liking the job or many negative reasons encountered in the workplace, people may feel burnout in their profession. Therefore, individuals' feeling of burnout reduces their job satisfaction and creates negative effects on their life satisfaction. As the researches conducted in this area show, the difference between the emotions exhibited and the emotions actually felt, in other words the presence of emotional disharmony, causes a decrease in the satisfaction levels of the employees from their jobs and consequently an increase in the levels of stress and burnout. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between emotional labor and burnout. For this purpose, a questionnaire was applied to the participation of 211 teachers working in private schools in the province of Elazig. "Personal Information Form", "Maslach Burnout Inventory" and "Emotional Labor Scale" were used as data tools in the research. Emotional labor data was used by Diefendorff et al. (2005) Burnout scale developed by Maslach and Jackson (1982). The obtained data were analyzed in SPSS 22 program. From the participating teachers; While it was seen that the emotional labor representations of the 25-30 and 41 years old teachers and 1-5 years of service were higher, there was no significant difference in terms of education level, gender, marital status variable. According to the results, a significant difference was determined. Teachers' workload was seen as the most important cause of emotional exhaustion. According to Age Variable; While it is seen that the burnout levels of teachers who have 41 and above, 16 years and more service years, and associate degree graduates are higher; There was no significant difference according to gender and marital status variable. Teachers' displays of emotional labor have an impact on their burnout. Accordingly, employees' emotional labor representations (independent variable) affect their burnout levels (dependent variable) by 10.9 %. In other words, the independent variable is the source of 10.9 % of the changes in the dependent variable.
