Determination of the antifungal effect of extraction of padina pavonica

Abstract (EN)

Padina pavonica is a member of the brown algae family and has been included in the brown algae family since the color is dark due to the predominance of phytoxanthin. It is a source of nutrients for many living things in terms of the vitamins, minerals, amino acids and lipids it contains. For other living things, habitat maintenance also gives importance to biodiversity. It is reported that Padina pavonica, which is used mainly in food, cosmetics, feed industry and medicine industry, has antibacterial and antifungal effect in antimicrobial efficacy studies. In recent years, there has been an increase in fungal infections after the irregular use of drugs, antibiotics and antifungals also the immune system suppressors. It is accelerating new antifungal investigations due to the increasing resistance problem and limited antifungals. Antifungal susceptibility tests of Candida albicans, Aspergillus fumigatus and Trichophyton rubrum, which are pathogenic in humans, are performed to produce an alternative solution to the current resistance problems by comparing the susceptibility to amphotericin B and Flukanozol which is the ortabined 10 Padina pavonica extract in vitro antimycotic effects. The most effective di-ethyl ether was not affected by the drying methods, and the extracts from Padina pavonica had antifungal activity against both Aspergillus fumigatus and Candida albicans. In addition, efficacy against Candida albicans was found in Padina pavonica isolate obtained by drying in room heat of hexane. The other solvents used were found to be effective against Candida albicans, a Padina pavonica isolate obtained by drying in acetone and ethanol at room temperature. As a result of this study, it is thought that Padina pavonica has antifungal activity and may be an alternative antifungal.
