Turkish validity and reliability study of palliative care knowledge scale

Purpose: The study was conducted methodologically to test the Turkish validity and reliability of the Palliative Care Information Scale developed by Elissa Kozlov in 2016. Material and Method: The palliative care information scale was used in this study, which included 244 nursing students from a nursing faculty at a state university in Ankara. The scale's validity was investigated in terms of language, scope (content), and structure. Cronbach's Alpha and the test-retest method were used to calculate the scale's reliability. Findings: The content validity index of the scale items was found to be 0.93 as a result of the validity and reliability study, the Kaiser Meier Olkin (KMO) coefficient was found to be 0.710 as a result of the factor analysis, and the Bartlett sphericity test result was X2=493.972. According to confirmatory factor analysis fit index values, Chi-square value was calculated as x2/ SD=1.217, CFI=0.949, GFI=0.939, AGFI=0.906, TLI=0.934, IFI=0.952, RMSEA = 0.030. The Cronbach's Alpha value of the 11-item final version of the scale was found to be 0.744 for the attitude and behavior sub-dimension, and 0.552 for the knowledge sub-dimension. In the study, it was determined that the two applications of the scale were highly consistent in the test-retest reliability analysis (r=0.912, p=0.000).
