Abstract (EN)

This research was carried out to determine the effects of shading on cotton yield, fiber quality and some physiological parameters in 5 different cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) varieties grown under normal development and 30% shading conditions. In the experiment 5 cotton varieties (DP 499, Stoneville 468, Stoneville 498, MAY 455, MAY 558) and 30% shade providing shade netting were used as material. In the study, it was determined that normal and shading conditions had significant effects on seed cotton yield, fiber yield, number of monopodial branches, number of sympodial branches, number of node of first fruiting branch, number of nodes, height/node ratio, number of bolls and first picking percentage. It was determined that there were significant statistical differences among the varieties in the number of node of first fruiting branch, number of sympodial branches, number of nodes, boll weight, seed cotton boll weight, ginning percentage and first picking percentage It was determined that the seed cotton yield was 353,75 kg/da under normal development and 263,81 kg/da under shading conditions, fiber yield was 158,99 kg/da under normal development and 118,19 kg/da under shading conditions, and that the seed cotton yield decreased by 25,42% and the fiber yield decreased by 26,66% with shading. Shading did not have a significant effect on fiber quality criteria, the short fiber ratio increased with shading, and the application x variety interaction was significant in fiber uniformity ratio. As a result of the study, it was determined that with shading, seed cotton yield, fiber yield, number of sympodial branches, number of node of first fruiting branch, number of node decreased, number of monopodial branches, boll number, height/node ratio, first picking percentage and short fiber index increased, and shading did not have a positive effect on cotton yield and quality by reducing the effect of high temperature.
