Abstract (EN)

In this thesis production of particle and fiber reinforced polymer matrix composite materials with self healing properties, radar absorption properties and anticorrosive properties were carried out for aircraft and turbine wind blade applications. Thermoset based epoxy was used as a matrix material. Microcapsule method was selected for self healing material production. Methyl methacrylate (MMA) monomer and benzoyl peroxide (BPO) were used as a self healing agent. In addition, shape memory FeMnSi and FeNiCo based powders were added in order to produce transformation toughened self healing materials. FeMnSi and FeNiCo based powders were produced by mechanical alloying method. Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) added epoxy matrix composites were produced for anticorrosive coating on the metal base. Radar absorbing materials were produced Fe alloy based powder added and carbon nanotube added epoxy matrix composites. Microwave absorption properties of the radar absorbing materials were investigated. Carbon fiber and glass fiber were used as a fiber reinforcement. Natural polymer based hemp fiber reinforced epoxy matrix based composites were produced and investigated. Polymer matrix composite materials were produced by using hand lay up method. In addition, metamaterial based materials were produced by using replica method. Model was produced by additive manufacturing method and then composite was poured into alginate mold. Microstructure and mechanical properties of the materials were investigated. Electrical conduction of the composites were studied by eddy current device. In addition, composites were characterized by ultrasonic test. Microwave absorption properties of the specimens were studied by VNA (vector network analyzer) device. Anticorrosive properties of the specimens were studied by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) method.
