Investigation of assertiveness and social self-efficacy expectation levels of adolescents who have single parents and parents in terms of some demographic variables

The aim of the study is to investigate the assertiveness and social self-efficacy expectation levels of the adolescents who have two parents and single parents in relation to some variables.The students who attend the 9th 10th and 11th year high school students in the central of Adana has been formed the universe of the research. Five high school located in Seyhan and Yüreğir have been taken in the research. This research consists of 350 high school students, 160 of which have single parents and 190 of which have two parents.Rathus Assertiveness Inventory (Rathus,1977), Social Self-Efficacy Expectation Scale for Adolescents (SSES-A) (Bilgin, 1999) and Socio-Economic Level Scale (Bacanlı, 1990) and personal information questionnaire were used to collect data. Obtained data is evaluated with Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) and Pearson Product Moment Correlations Analysis and the level of significance was accepted as p< .05.In this study, significant positive correlation was found between assertiveness and social self-efficacy expectation points. According to the results of MANOVA, it has shown that adolescents who have two parents on 11 th grade, assertiveness and social self efficacy expectation points was found higher and more significant than adolescents who have single parents on 11th grade. Besides,familiy compositions and father education levels of adolescents have been seen at significant differences to assertiveness and social self-efficacy expectation points.
