Faces of Pera

The thesis "Faces of Pera" approaches Pera Street, the main street of Beyoglu which is one of the oldest parts of Istanbul, from a different angle.The "Faces of Pera" experimental documentary, which is the product of this thesis works, is based on the Cine-Eye theory of Dziga Vertov. It aims to show Pera's -which has a unique historical flavor- more than a hundred year old buildings and their unseen, unnoticed faces and details.The first section of the thesis deals with Pera and its history. Dziga Vertov and his Cine-Eye theory are examined in the second section. The third and fourth sections of the thesis are devoted to Documentaries and Experimental Cinema, respectively. The fifth sections presents the movie "Faces of Pera" and the thesis ends with the conclusion section.
