Abstract (EN)
It is shown that oxidative stress is associated with atherosclerosis, hypertension, developing of malignancy and aging and it can be elevated inadequately in chronic pathologic states like as uremia. Elevation of oxidized radicals production and insufficiency of antioxidant systems contribute to pathogenesis of chronic renal failure. We purpose to investigate the effect of isoflavone on the oxidative and antioxidative systems in chronic renal failure patients who administer continuos ambulatory peritoneal dialysis.30 patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis was enrolled in the study. Two of them because of gastrointestinal side effects and one of them because of renal transplantation leaved the study and the study was completed with 27 patients. 40 mg soy isoflavones (Isoflavin®, Mikro-Gen) 2 times per day was given to all patients during 10 weeks. Before and after the treatment of isoflavone total cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, hs-CRP, oxidized-LDL, malondialdehyde, adiponectin, paraoxonase and arylesterase values were measured and statistical analyses was made.It is determined that the levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglyceride and one of the inflammation marker hs-CRP and oxidative stress markers oxidized LDL and malondialdehyde was statistically lower (in order; p<0.001, p=0.005, p<0.001, p<0.001, p<0.001, p=0.04) after the treatment with isoflavones than the beginning of treatment. The levels of adiponectin, paraoxonase and arylesterase which has antioxidant properties was statistically higher (in order; p=0.002, p=0.03, p<0.001) after the treatment than the basic levels. Finally; it can be supplied useful effects on inflamatuar and atherosclerotic process by using of isoflavones which has antilipogenic, antihypertensive and improving vasculer health properties in end stage renal disease.Key words: Oxidative stres, inflammation, peritoneal dialysis, isoflavone, adiponectin, paraoxonase.
