Abstract (EN)

Ovarian cancer ranks seventh among malignant tumors in the world and eighth among the causes of cancer death in women. Ovarian cancer risk factors include nutrition, lifestyle, genetic and environmental factors. Pyraclostrobin, which is in the class of stobilurin pesticides, causes the death of fungi by affecting the mitochondrial respiratory activity of fungal cells. It has been reported that this type of pesticide affects mitochondrial respiration and is toxic to many vertebrate and invertebrate aquatic organisms. Unconscious use of pesticides in high concentrations exposes agricultural workers and the environment to pesticides. There have not yet been enough studies on the effect of pyraclostrobin on ovarian cancer and on determining its carcinogenicity class. In this study, SKOV-3, an ovarian cancer cell line, was exposed to consecutive doses of pyraclostrobin and its effect on proliferation was observed using a CCK-8- based cytotoxicity analysis kit. No significant change was found in SKOV-3 ovarian cancer cells indicating that pyraclostrobin triggers cell proliferation. The effect of pyraclostrobin-treated SKOV-3 cells on migration was found to be similar to the control groups. It was concluded that pyraclostrobin at the doses investigated had no effect on proliferation and migration in the SKOV-3 cell line.
