The political significance of concept virtue in Plato and Aristotle

In this study, how the concept of virtue within the social structure formed by the network of ethical relations has changed in the social and intellectual world of Ancient Greek and which meanings it has had social or individual influences will be tried to discuss. In the texts of Homer and Hesiod, which are at the basis of Greek culture and political order, the diversity of meaning of the concept of virtue will be analyzed. Besides, with the emergence of philosophy, philosophers called as philosophers of nature in the history of philosophy and the thoughts of the Sophists, who are important figures of the ancient Greek culture and political world, on politics and ethics in general will be included.Then, Plato and Aristotle's ideal state designs, as well as a general framework of the ideas of society and individuals' ethical norms, where the concept of virtue stands at this point and what function will be examined. As a result, the main virtues in ancient Greece and whether they are connected with today's politics will be examined.
