Özet (EN)
Popular culture has become an important area of study within International Relations (IR) since the 2000s. Yet it has still been understudied especially in Security Studies. This study is based on the idea that popular culture both affects and is affected by security issues and, thus, examines this topic within the framework of one of the most prominent Turkish popular cultural products: Turkish cinema. More specifically, this study investigates the security discourses in the Turkish movies in the 2000s by focusing on how Turkish movies represent the subject of the security and threats. Thus, it aims to contribute to literatures on popular culture and international relations as well as on Turkish political culture and security politics.
