Özet (EN)
Analysis by Magnetic Resonance Imaging of variations in posterior cranial fossa structures which are in pons and cerebellum, with aging in men and womenThis study has been performed to assess the relationship between age and sex with morphological differences and to contribute to differentiate the pathological variations on the midsagittal cross-section, over MRG pons, cerebellum and posterior cranial fossa on 72 women, 78 males, a total of 150 persons with neurological complaints who were gone through MRI method and who have been found out to have no disease-related variations in their brains, aging 25-85 were evaluated on the basis of their midsagittal MR images. These images were then computerized to determine reference points. Posterior cranial fossa area (FCPA), Basilar part of pons area (BPA), Tegmentum of pons area (TPA), Vermis cerebelli area (VCA) have been generated to find out field measurements. The values obtained were directly rated with FCPA.Results were taken in women and men, statistically with respect to age and gender. In the measurements taken, FCPA on an average show 3564.41 mm² in men and 3367.39 mm² in women. Statistically, it shows a reasonability between men and women. BPA is on the average 393.14 mm² in men, and 388.83 mm² in women. TPA likewise is 199.68 mm² in men and 193.90 mm² in women. VCA has been measured 1046.24 mm² in men and 1013.35 mm² in women. These measurements showing no resemblance to gender , when rated with FCPA, without the special case in ratio of VCA/FCPA, showed gender variations. In the evaluation with respect to division in the age groups of 25-34, BPA values in men were greater than what were found in women. Additionally, between ages 45-54 BPA/FCPA, TPA/FCPA ratios had a reasonable differentiation. In men and women , with aging, when BPA,TPA,VCA, FCPA measurement values and their proportions to FCPA values were observed, in women with aging there were no signs of BPA, TPA, and FCPA differences. However VCA was observed to be shrinking in women with aging. In addition, VCA to FCPA ratio showed a negative significance in women.Key words: Anatomy, posterior cranial fossa, cerebellar vermis, pons, morphometry, midsagittal MRI
