The relationship between postmodernism and photography

In the work done thinking that the relationship between photography and postmodernism should be investigated through the phographic view point, the basic issue desired to be put foreword is the way postmodernism reflects onto visual materials and especially onto the art of photography. While the postmodern event and the concepts and their way of utilisation are investigated during the work, examplery photographers who have done work in this context in the history of photography have been taken in hand together with their work.The fundemental purpose of the thesis is to put foreward with examples what kind of conceptual indications and conditions should come to mind when we say postmodern photography during the process comprising the postmodern event. Setting off from this view, the method has been indicated as scanning the written and visual sources and from among them selecting and gathering the most suitable photographers and the photography examples with the issue.No matter how much the postmodern event comprises a state the definition of which is uncertain and how much it denies the formation of any kind of tradition through itself when we look at the artistic creative process, it is a known fact that it brings together with itself certain concepts and conditions putting themselves foreward. In photography too which is an important branch of visual arts, it will be noticed that in the postmodern field we are left face to face with the same concepts and conditions often. While these postmodern concepts, conditions and their reflections in photography are forming the backbone of the thesis, basically the photographic work of Cindy Sherman and Yasumasa Morimura have been taken in hand and another photographers as examples of postmodern photography for the explanation of the relationship between postmodernism and photography.
