Abstract (EN)

Preeclampsia, is a hypertensive disorder of pregnancy accompanied with proteinuria and edema and mostly with the other organ systems disorders. It is pregnancy pathology with unknown etiological complex with an incidence of 6-8 %. It is important to diagnose and treat the preeclampsia so the fetal and maternal mortality may be decreased. Even when the first clinical findings of preeclampsia diagnosed, lots of maternal and fetal physiopathological alterations observed. For that reason, recent studies focused on diagnosing preeclampsia before the clinical findings appear. Therefore we aimed to evaluate if the serum Nt-proBnp levels may be used as a risk factor in the preeclampsia diagnose. The study was performed at Dicle University, School of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, from September 2009 to December 2009. 51 preeclamptic 30-40 gestational weeks of pregnant and 38 normal 30-40 gestational weeks of pregnant women included to the study. When we compared the demographic characteristics of the cases, there was not statistically significant difference. The SBP and DBP was found to be statistically significant higher in preeclampsia group when compared with normal group. When we compared the serum Nt-proBNP levels, we found that preeclampsia group had statistically significant higher levels of serum Nt-proBNPIn conclusion, we found the serum Nt-proBNP levels statistically higher in preeclampsia group and this finding was supported by the literature. Therefore serum NT-proBNP levels should be evaluated in preeclampsia patients and may be used as a prognostic marker in preeclampsia diagnose.
