The effect of prenatal fetal and maternal morphological measurements on mode of delivery

This study, using data from 64 multi and primigravida pregnant women and newborns who applied to Osmaniye State Hospital, Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic, aims to compare and evaluate maternal and fetal measurements and to predict the effect on delivery type in the prenatal period. Physical examination and maternal foot length, conjugata diagonalis and transverse diameter measurements were taken from mothers whose gestational age was 36-41 weeks. Abdominal Circumference (FW), Femur Length (FU), and Fetal Head Bipariatel Diameter (BPD), which are the measurements related to the fetus, were measured using ultrasonographic methods. Fetal Head Circumference (FBC) measurements were also taken after delivery. Clinical pelvimetric methods were used in the vaginal examination of pregnant women. Conjugata diagonalis (CD) and transverse diameter (TC) measurements were made using the vaginal touch method in pregnant women who participated in the study. Vaginal touch measurements were made by the researcher. The finger length of the researcher was measured in meters and a criterion length was determined. In addition, information on maternal weight, age, height, gestational week and the number of pregnancy, and newborn weight and head circumference measurements were also added to the study. SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) 23.0 package program was used for statistical analysis of the data. The continuous measurements are summarized as mean and standard deviation, and categorical measurements are summarized as numbers and percentages. Shapiro-Wilk test was used to determine whether the parameters in the study showed normal distribution. Independent Student's t-test was used in paired group analysis for normally distributed parameters, and Mann Whitney U test was used for non-normally distributed parameters. Chi-square test was used to analyze categorical expressions. The statistical significance level was taken as 0.05 in all tests. The parameters collected as the continuous measurements in the study such as Age, Height, Weight, Week of gestation, Parity number, Maternal foot length, Conjugate diagonals, Transfers Diameter, Abdominal circumference, Fetal head BPD (Biparietal diameter), Postpartum Fetal Head Circumference, Femur Length, and Birth Weight of the Baby and whether there was a significant difference between the mode of the delivery was investigated. As a result of the analysis, it was found that while there was a significant difference between the length of the femur and the mode of delivery (p=0,039), there was no significant difference between the other variables and the mode of delivery. In addition, the parameters collected as continuous measurements were categorized as below and above the average by accepting the average values of the parameters as the cut-off point. With this cut-off point, the percentage of the patients with an average value below the findings and how many were above the average was also examined.
