Comparison of the effects of preoperative started diclophenac sodium and dexketoprofen trometamol on pain, edema and trismus after mandibular impressed thi̇rd molar surgery

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate how comfortable and advantageous diclofenac sodium and dexketoprofen trometamol active nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which are frequently prescribed in clinics after tooth extraction, provide patients with pain, swelling and trismus in the postoperative period compared to each other. It is planned to compare the relative effects of drugs on the frequency of use and suppression of the inflammatory response in the postoperative period. Although many NSAIDs have been compared to date, no study has been found comparing the efficacy of diclofenac sodium and dexketoprofen trometamol. It is planned that these preparations, which are offered for the same purpose and with similar costs, will be presented to the literature by evaluating the clinical efficacy. Methods: Previously, bilateral symmetric impacted wisdom teeth were indicated for extraction and extracted systemically healthy patients were included in the study. It consists of material containing 25 mg of dexketoprofen trometamol 1 hour before the operation for one side of these patients and 25 mg of diclofenac sodium for the other side. The patients used their drugs every 12 hours for at least 4 days. Two previous postoperative period comparisons were made by using the patients' VAS values, preoperative measurements, edema and maximum mouth opening values, postoperative 2nd and 7th day measurement values. Results: There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of pain and trismus. In terms of edema, edema was observed less in the 2nd day dexketoprofen trometamol group and there was a statistical difference. On the 7th day, edema values were similar in both groups. No side effects were reported for the groups. Conclusion: As a result of the findings, we think that dexketoprofen trometamol is a more preferable option when planning early edema control, and diclofenac sodium is a more preferable option for postoperative edema treatment.
