Abstract (EN)

This research was carried out to determine the relationship between fear of childbirth and prenatal attachment and birth self-efficacy perception in primiparous pregnant women. The sample group of this descriptive and connection-seeking research consisted of 255 pregnant women from the Bursa/Yıldırım SBÜ Bursa Yüksek İhtisas Training and Research Hospital Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic. Data was collected via face-to-face interviews; using the Demographic Information Form, Wijma Delivery Expectancy/Experience Questionnaire Version A, Prenatal Attachment Inventory, and Self-Efficacy Perception Scale for Normal Delivery. IBM SPSS 25 was used to analyze the data and descriptive statistical analyses, t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, one-way ANOVA test, Duncan test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and Dunn test were used for evaluation. The effect of other scale scores on WDEQ-A was examined by linear regression analysis. The mean WDEQ-A score of primiparous pregnant women was found to be 58.45±22.59 and a significant difference was found between WDEQ-A, education status, employment status, family type, planned pregnancy, desired pregnancy, delivery type, fear of birth, knowledge obtained from birth-related resources, spousal support, and readiness for birth. PBE was found to be 65.05±10.83 and there is a significant difference between age groups, education level, spouse's education level, family type, income status, place of residence, birth type of primiparous pregnant, fear of birth, knowledge obtained from birth-related resources, spousal support, and readiness for birth. It was determined that the SEVB score of the primiparous pregnants was 64.55±14.10 and there was a significant difference between the education, employment, mode of delivery, fear of childbirth, knowledge obtained from birth-related resources, spousal support, and readiness for birth. A statistically significant negative correlation was obtained between WDEQ-A score and PBE WDEQ-A and SEVB (p<0.001). As a result, it was determined that the birth fear of primiparous pregnants was moderate, and the perception of prenatal attachment and birth self-efficacy decreased as the fear of birth increased in primiparous pregnants.
