Abstract (EN)
In this dissertation, the problems encountered by professional voice artists in voice production were examined one by one, approaches to be followed for identifying the sources of the problems were investigated, and suggestions were presented toward eliminating these problems. In the first part of this dissertation, the changes in the methods used in vocal pedagogy have been investigated during the period from past to present. In the second part, all the elements necessary for correct voice production have been examined, and the currently accepted views and methods on these topics have been presented. The mistakes commonly made by singers on these topics that form the basis of voice production were also treated separately; the causes of these mistakes and suggestions towards them have been presented by constructing suitable exercise regimes in line with information and vocal therapy methods obtained from scientific sources. In the final part of the dissertation, vocal hygiene and maintenance, myths, and the effects of medications on professional voice have been examined. The aim of this dissertation is to identify the bases of a personalized approach in voice training within the framework of the working principles of the anatomical structures involved in voice production. Every person?s larengeal, anatomical and psychological being is different from each other. Therefore, under the asumption of a single correct technique, usually the technique that worked for the voice pedagogue, expecting that the same technique will succeed equally for every individual will prevent obtaining positive results considering the individual differences. Efficacy from prescribing the same exercises to all singers while disregarding the differing needs of the singers is not a realistic expectation. On the contrary, a vocal pedagogue should be able to prescribe the coup de la glotte technique to students with weak glottal closure and apply the no effort technique to students with tight and agressive glottal closure, all in the same studio. In addition, the voice exercises should not be regarded as exercises done only for warming the voice before singing. When these exercises are selected regarding the needs of the individual, they would become almost like a physical therapy session and achieve correct function in malfunctioning muscle groups and develop these muscles.Consequently a vocal pedagogue should correctly identify the problems of a voice student, determine the problem causes and apply the exercise regime to address these problems. Furthermore it is also important for the vocal pedagogue to make the correct decisions regarding their students to cooperate with a physician specializing in voice. ?ngilizce Anahtar Kelimeler:1- Problems in Vocal Production 2- Professional Voice3- Voice Therapy4- Vocal Pedagogy5- Vocal Hygiene
