Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of psychological hardiness and anxiety on fear of COVID-19. A total of 521 people, 416 women and 105 men, between the ages of 17-46, studying at Bahçeşehir University, Demiroğlu Bilim University and Yeditepe University, psychology department, participated in the study. In addition to the Personal Information Form presented to collect data, Psychological Hardiness, Beck Anxiety and Fear of COVİD-19 (Coronavirus) scales developed by researchers used. In the study, multiple linear regression analysis was applied to determine the effect of anxiety and psychological hardiness on fear of COVID-19. Independent sample t test and one-way analysis of variance were used to compare COVID-19 fear scores with variables. In the research, it is seen that the participants' levels of COVID-19 fear are moderate, their anxiety levels are low and their psychological hardiness levels are high. It was observed that as anxiety scores increased, COVID-19 fear scores also increased. It was observed that COVID-19 fear scores decreased with the increase of self-commitment, control and general psychological hardiness scores, and it was concluded that there was no significant relationship between challenge scores and COVID-19 fear scores. It has been determined that the mean scores of COVID-19 fear show a significant difference according to the variables of gender, having chronic illness, social distance, use of masks, cleaning and negatively affecting education life. As a result, anxiety and psychological hardiness components explain 16% of the change in COVID-19 fear. When anxiety and psychological hardiness are taken together, it is understood that anxiety is more effective on COVID-19 than psychological hardiness. Anxiety positively affects the fear of COVID-19.
