Investigation of serum endocan levels in psoriasis patients

In this study, it was aimed to evaluate serum Endocan levels and related protein levels, lipid profile, body mass index and Psoriasis Field Severity Index in order to contribute to elucidation of etiopathogenesis of psoriasis. 47 patients with psoriasis followed up from Gaziantep University Şahinbey Research and Application Hospital, department of Dermatology and 40 healthy individuals were included to study for this purpose. The age, gender, height, weight, smoking and alcohol use, fasting blood glucose, lipid profile data (Total Cholesterol, HDL-Cholesterol, LDL-Cholesterol, Triglyceride), CRP are considered from patient files retrospectively and biohemical parameters were determined with ELISA method. Data obtained from the study were analyzed with the SPSS 22.0 package program. Serum total cholesterol, Serum LDL cholesterol, HbA1c, Vasculer Endothelial growth factor (VEGF), C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 12 (CXCL12), Nerve growth factor (NGF), Fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2) and Endocan levels were found to be significantly higher in psoriasis patients than healthy control group as a result of the statistical analyzes. When these results are taken into consideration, it can be said that serum Endocan levels play a role in the etiopathogenesis of psoriasis and it is one of the important parameters in diagnosis of the disease.
