Özet (EN)
Background- Objective: Autoimmune and chronic inflammatory diseases associated with various audiovestibular pathologies have been reported in literature. In this study, we aimed to compare hearing loss in psoriasis patients with normal population.Material-Method: All patients underwent a complete ear, nose and throat examination. Patient taking ototoxic drugs, having noise exposure, vertigo, recurrent otitis media in history and having pathologic findings in physical examination were excluded from the study.Puretone audiometry was applied to all patients in a sound isolated otorhinolaryngology audiology laboratory. All measurements were performed using a Interacoustics-Clinical Audiometer AC40 device, TDH-39P Telephonic HB-7 headset and Radioear E71 bone vibrator. The airway hearing levels were measured on 125, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000 and 8000 Hz; and the bone path at 500, 1000, 2000 and 4000 Hz.Statistical analysis of all the groups was performed on PASW Statistics (formerly known as SPSS) version 18.0.0 statistical package program. Numerical data are mean ± SD (standard deviation), qualitative data were expressed as frequency (%). P <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: When compared with the control group, a statistically significant sensorineural type hearing loss was detected in high frequency in psoriatic patients; however, conductive type hearing loss was not detected. Conclusion: We think that sensorineural hearing loss may be one of the accompanying morbidities in psoriasis. Therefore, determining the risk groups by audiometric evaluation and keeping the risk group under follow-up would be applicable.
