Abstract (EN)

In this study, the use of R442A and R453A instead of R404A was experimentally investigated without any changes in the vapour compression refrigerant system which uses R404A refrigerant. Experiments were conducted under the same operating conditions, and they are repeated at three different evaporation temperatures (-6°C, -3°C, and 0°C), and three different condensation temperatures (35°C, 40°C and 45°C) also, in order to detect the effect of internal heat exchanger (IHX). From the results of the experiments, the cooling capacity of the refrigerants, the energy consumed in the compressor, the performance coefficient (COP), the mass flow rate, the isentropic and volumetric efficiency, the quality and the compression ratios were determined. Energy parameters of these refrigerants are coMPared among them. Furthermore, effects of IHX usage are also investigated. According to the evaluation which is made using the averages of results, we have seen that the cooling capacity of R442A and R453A are 6.92% and 3.10% higher than that of R404A, respectively. Moreover, the use of IHX gives an additional 19.63% and 24.0% increase in the cooling capacity. We have observed 10.83% and 13.38% increases in the performance coefficients. In addition, with the effect of IHX, there is an additional increase in the performance coefficients by 25.29% and 26.97%. In the refrigerant systems, instead of R404A, which has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) 3943, R442A with GWP 52% smaller than that of R404A (R442A GWP: 1888) and R453A (GWP: 1765) with GWP 55% smaller than GWP of R404A could be used. As a result, it is observed that R442A and R453A refrigerants are suitable for use, instead of R404A in the middle term.
