Discourse analysis of recep tayyip erdogan's speeches on international platforms and their reflections on media: The examples of the United Nations, the Organization for Islamic Cooperation and the Turkish Council

Communication opportunities brought by our age have strengthened the communication of people with each other more than ever before in history. The strengthening of communication ties between people has led to the development of both the discipline of politics and the discipline of communication. There have been significant development especially on mass media. In this sense, newspapers, one of the oldest communication tolls, have fulfilled the nedd of people to receive news. However, each newspaper can present the events in different ways due to both economic and ideological reasons. The development of communication facilities has also affected the development of the discipline of politics. In this context, leaders were expected to keep up with the changing communication opportunities. On the other hand, it was expected that the leaders would shape their discourses on both the domestic and foreign policiy of their country with their communication language and tools. In this sense, the effect of any leader's speech was not limited to the environment in which the speech was made. In this thesis, it has been analyzed whether Erdoğan's speeches in international organizations are related to Turkey's domestic policy. The aim of this thesis is to determine whether the speeches of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in international organizations such as the Uniden Nations (UN), yhe Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Turkish Counsil (TK) are aimed at Turkey's domestic policy. For this purpose, first of all, with the contect analysis method, findings about how long and how long Erdogan's speeches in the relevant institutions took place in the Turkish press were obtained. Then, the visible and invisible meanings of the news in which the speeches took place were analyzed with ciritcal discourse analysis. The news about the speeches were analyzed with Van Dijk's news analysis method and it was tried to determine whether Erdoğan's speeches were aimed at Turkey's domestic policy.
