Abstract (EN)
The study was conducted to investigate the effect of reformer pilates exercises on bladder and bowel dysfunction symptoms and quality of life in children with bladder and bowel dysfunction. Seventeen children, aged 5-12 years, diagnosed with bladder and bowel dysfunction by a physician, including 9 in the urotherapy group (control) and 8 in the reformer pilates group (practice), were included in the study. Before starting the study, the family consent form was signed. Urotherapy training was given to the control group, and in addition to the urotherapy training, the study group received 30 minutes of reformer pilates exercise training two days a week. Bladder bowel dysfunction; Voiding Disorder Symptom Score (VDSS) was evaluated with the Bladder and Bowel Dysfunction Questionnaire (BBDQ). Quality of life: Assessed with the Pediatric Incontinence Questionnaire (PINQ). Evaluations were repeated 8 weeks later. After the study, a decrease in IBSS and PİA values was determined in both groups (p<0.05). While BBDQ value did not decrease in the control group, BBDQ value decreased in the exercise training group. The rate of decrease in the survey skors of the training group was higher than that of the control group (p<0,05). As a result, reformer pilates exercises were found to be effective in reducing BBD symptoms and increasing quality of life.
