The management and organization of recreation activities the investigation of the management of five stars hotels in Antalya region

The rapid changes in human life have made them give more importance to evaluate their leisure time activities. The individuals who get regular and increasing income are now spending their savings, by means of ever increasing social securities, on their individual needs on the one hand .On the other hand, their tendencies to evaluate their leisure time have made them participate in tourism and activities alike. Today animation programmes are the in-hotel applications of tourism activities which are accepted as important forms of participation in recreational activities. In the first chapter of the study, the analysis of time and leisure time concepts, the relation between time and recreation, the classification of recreational activities and the leadership in these activities are studied. In the second chapter, the concept of tourism, the relation between recreation and tourism, the reasons of the increasing demand for the recreation and tourism activities, the application of recreational activities and animation, their management and organization are researched in detail. In the third chapter, a field study has been done on the management and organization of recreational activities at five-star hotels in Antalya region. Data collection technique of the study is questionnaire. The questionnaire has been applied at sixty five-star hotels in Antalya region. The statistical data have been assessed at SPSS 11.0 package statistics program through the frequency (f) and percentage distribution techniques. The results of the study have demonstrated that at most of the five-star hotels, the management of recreational activities is carried out by professional companies outside the hotel. It?s been seen that managers who manage and organize most of the recreational activities have received education on recreation. The establishments participated in the study perform their recreational activities professionally, based on general principles of management and organisation.
