Abstract (EN)
The breast is the tissue overlying the chest (pectoral) muscles. Women's breasts are made of specialized tissue that produces milk (glandular tissue) and fatty tissue. Breast cancer (BC) is the most frequently diagnosed malignance among women and the one of the most common causes of cancer‐related death. HOTAIR is an lncRNA, 2158 bp long, located on chromosome 12q13.13 between HOXC11 and HOXC12 genes and acts as a crucial modulator of chromatin re-modeling and transcriptional silencing. This study aimed to evaluate the difference in the Hotair gene expression in control group and patients with breast cancer and also evaluate the presence of peroxides in breast cancer tissue. 120 samples have been collected, 80 samples were collected from patients suffering from breast cancer and 40 samples collected from healthy control. RNA has been extracted from the collected samples. The eluted RNA converted to cDNA. Real time PCR has been used to evaluate the gene expression level. Immunoflourecent technique and a fluorescent microscope have been done to detect the presence of ROs. The results showed higher level of Hotair gene expression in the samples of patients than in control. The results showed a positive correlation between Hotair gene expression and the age of the samples.
