The social criticism in the Resat Nuri Guntekin's plays

With the establishment of Darülbedayi in 1914, Turkish theatre made a great progress. Theatre activities have increased, articles on stage plays and general theatre have become widespread in the country. However, this rapid increase in the interest to theatre has reduced quality and many articles have been written framework of personal liking. In such an environment where everyone writes critiques on theatre, Reşat Nuri Güntekin has made a great contribution to field with his articles published in various newspapers and magazines. It can be seen that Güntekin has involved in almost every theatre problem in his period in theese articles. He has thought about many issues, from the history of theatre to actors and stage problems. He has tried to make solution for the problems of the Turkish theatre. Copyrighted, translated and adapted plays have been staged in Darülbedayi. Especially his own plays are important because of the lack of qualified copyrighted plays of that period.In this study, it has been determined the social problems in Güntekin's own plays and ıt has been tried that plays are collectively viewed by classifying determined defects. Many issues including economic, cultural and ethical have been determined in the plays. With this feature, it has been deduced that the author has reflected the problems of his time in his works.
