Usage of color and expression of red color in art of painting from renaissance to impressionism

Basis of this research consisch of usage of color and haw the color red, as a cultural and social metaphor and coloring matter, reflects to the expression forms of the pictorial art in the period of time between Renaissance and Impressionism. This research also covers the structure of color, usage of color in the development of pictorial art, red paint pigments, meanings given to the color red and various Works of art.First part of the research alaborates the structure of color and makes generel explanations on light and pigment characteristics of color and color psychology.In teh second part of the research, generally I discuss using of color through developing of the pictorial art. Starting from Age Art, Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Cretan, Grek, Roman, Byzantian and Middle Age Art had been searched. Through into this section, usage of color and expression forms of pictorial art, in the period of time from Early Renaisssnce till end of Impressionism.In the third part of the research; red dye pigments were situated, vegetable, zoic and mineral sources investigated. Otherwise, all red color pigments; color indexes, name of the pigments, chemical compositions, color definitions served on a chart under the titles of light effects. Second section of this part, the meanings loaded to the color red had been researched, and social, religious, critical, actual and psychological meanings investigated.Fourth and the last part harps on the artists reflecting the characteristics of their times and their Works, how artists approach the concept of color and expression forms of the color red.Conclusion part analyzes the usage of color from renaissance to Impressionism in pictorial art and expression froms of the color red in the light of the information covered by the research.
