The role of the illustrated stories in child training and the narration with pictures of the Manas Legend

The comedy stripes and cartoons, wich are the fields of interest of child literature, show resemblances in respect of criteria applied für their functions and preparations. Regarding the criteria and their cotributions to education to be followed in the formation of this kind of child books assessed in a single group in view of illustration and narration, we began to issuse the historiette of comedy and in the world. The history of illustrative narration dates back to the first age and pictures and illustrations in thecave art. What is known and adapted is that cartoon narrations and books were developed in the United States of America in the nineteenth century. From 1960, Cartoons were begun to be examined scientifically. International congresses and seminars were held. Today, cartoons and comedy stripes have managed to have a great number of literate and conscious readers. The studies related to child literature in Turkey started later than those of Udestern countries. The greatest change has been in the revolution of letter. The development of the child literature was one of the policies of the republic period. Some criteria to be taken into consideration in the formation of a book to be prepared for children are available. These are as follows: The criteria corcerning the content, the criteria concerning physical structure and illustrations. Being successful is one of the most basic necessities of all the humanbeings. Each man wants to be success ful, liked and praised. Such a desire seems the most distinguishingly on a child. Since cartoons and comedy stripes present the success in a concrete way and make the child always identify with the hero successfully, they are liked and loved by children.* J-*. tv The subjects to be issued in the cartoon narrations have great importance in order that a child should recagnise his own culture values. In this issue, the anonymous literary works belonging to that community in which child participates can be made use ful. Since a child is prone to the various affections, it is essential that a child be paid attention to the culture and art values of his community and that this interest should be alert. There is an important place of the legends in Turkish history. Besides our ancestors heroships, their beliefs, virtues and point of views are possible to see in the network of their legends. The desires of the society reveal itself in legendary subjekts formedin the mixture of dreams and realities. There are very strong virtues such as being respectful for the elderly people, protecting the children, taking on duties for the society etc... these are come across in the world of legends. Some figures presenting cowardice, opportunity betrayal are also met in the legends. There are deep culture richnesses in Manas, the longest legend of the world, in the view of these elements. It is difficult for the children to read and understand this legend thoroughly. But, there are also invaluable incidents, emotions and ideas that will be able influence the chield's world pasitively. We must make efforts for the children to encourage the approaches of the nature of these legends. Narrative forms of not only legends but also classic works are available according to the children in the developed countries of the world. As these narrative forms are presented in the styles of stories, novels and theatres, they are also narrated in the forms of cartoons and comedy stripes. It is a remarkable and significant issue to narrate the children from the legend of Manas with the illustrations in a certain unity.
