Review of syntax of columns in 26-28. 09. 2011 dated Newspaper named Hürriyet

This study is about the syntax of the sentences of columns published in the newspaper named as Hürriyet on September 26, 27, 28, 2011. In the scope of this study 40 columns written by 24 columnists were examined and the obtained findings were evaluated. At the study it was initially covered theoretical knowledge and discussion about issues related to sentence, elements of sentences and the classification of the sentences. At the section named as the "Classification of the Sentences in The Columns in Terms of the Columnists", sentences in the columns of the columnists was analyzed and classified in terms of structure, type of predicate, string of the elements and semantics. According to the analysis results, arisen findings were pointed out at the section of tables. At this section it was used methods of Microsoft Excel programs. The statistics pointed out at the section of tables were evaluated in the result section. This study we worked out in order to determine syntax qualities of the sentences in the columns shows us that there is tendency of use simple sentences in terms of structure, verbal sentences in terms of type of predicate, canonical (Standard) sentences in terms of string of the elements, affirmative verbal sentences in terms of semantics in the columns.
