The rise of nationalism and immigration influx in europe

This study weighed renaissance in European nationalism and the challenges of influx in Europe- France. It attempted to find out the attitude of French towards immigrants and the reason why immigrants face intolerance and discrimination from the French. The French government on the other hand engage in political rhetoric to induce nationalism in France. immigration to Europe in general and to France in particular is on the rise and it has been a discursive phenomenon in world politics but France is a different case, owing to the fact that North Africans and French colonized Africans in West Africa especially always resort to France as heaven of opportunities. This happen though both legal and illegal channels, a process that pushed France into taking stringent policies against immigration over time. This research adopted the theories of nationalism as rhetorical pedestal to study nationalism and immigration influx in France, also those policies did not integrate the immigrants nor stabilized the situation in France. The policies failed to that even through it was capable of doing it and also the study also confirmed that France is turning into one of the toughest countries in western Europe concerning its immigration laws and measures. Furthermost, there no change in welfare system to facilitate the organization of immigrants the way that is beneficial to the economy of France., The study conclude that there is paradigm shift in understanding of immigration as a concept, throughout the 20th century it was considered to be a positive factor that proves France's attractiveness, with that changed the perception of nation and citizenship. France should lessen its policies, laws measures on immigration, the influx , of course must be controlled yet it should be put to better economic use as not all immigrants are liabilities - Mamoudou Gassama ,an illegal immigrant who recently saved a four year old is a case in point.
