Abstract (EN)

In this study, the importance and place of myth and myth reading in Roland Barthes?s thought have been investigated. The study is aimed to display the reading of myth in Roland Barthes?s philosophy.In the first chapter, Barthes?s idea of semiotics is examined in comparison with the view of Ferdinand de Saussure and Charles Sanders Peirce who had an influence on Barthes. In the second chapter, the concepts of language, myth, ideology, semiotic analysis and text-reading are examined in detail. In the last chapter, it has been aimed to show how the concepts which have been studied in detail are used within the examples of discourse.Key Words1. Semiotics2. Myth3. Ideology4. Discourse
