The role of theology in the birth of classical liberal political philosophy in the West

This thesis analyses the role of theology in the birth of classical liberal political philosophy in the West. It aims to show that, like every system of ideas, liberalism is indepted to theology and metaphysics, and that Christian theology has played a major role in the birth thereof. It eventually argues that in the early modern age liberal political theory was grounded on very basic premises that were borrowed from Christian theology. Çalışmanın amacı, her düşünce sistemi gibi liberalizmin de, teoloji ve metafiziğe borçlu olduğunu ve liberalizmin doğuşunda Hıristiyanlığın önemli bir rol oynadığını göstermektir. Nihaî olarak bu çalışma erken modern dönemde liberal siyaset teorisinin, Hıristiyan ilahiyatından alınan bazı önkabuller üzerine kurulduğunu iddia etmektedir.
