Examination of the relationship between relationship satisfaction, self compassion and humor styles in individuals with romantic relationship

The main purpose of this research is to examine whether there is a significant relationship between romantic satisfaction, self-compassion and humor styles. The research also aims to determine whether humor styles, self-compassion, and romantic relationship satisfaction vary by gender, education level, and length of the relationship. Between the ages of 18 and 65, 220 (72.1%) women and 85 (27.9%) men who were in a romantic relationship participated in the study. Descriptive and correlational research method was used in the study and the "Relationship Satisfaction Scale", "Self-Compression Scale", "Humor Styles Scale" and the confidential Personal Information Form were used by the researchers as data collection tools. The data obtained from t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Pearson product-moment correlation, and regression analysis methods wereutilized and analyzed.The findings reveal that there is a low level of positive correlation between romantic relationship satisfaction and self-compassion, participatory humor, and self-enhancing humor. While there was a substantial negative correlation between relationship satisfaction and aggressive humor, no correlation was determined between self-destructive humor and romantic relationship satisfaction. The regression analysis indicates that self-understanding and humor styles have a substantial effect on romantic relationship satisfaction. As a result of demographic variable analyses, it is discovered that participants' romantic relationship satisfaction does not differ from gender, education level, or relationship duration. The findings obtained from the research were discussed in comparison with the literature and suggestions were presented to the researchers for future studies on the subject.
