The life of Russian diplomat Ivan Ivanovich Neplüyev, activities in Istanbul and Orenburg

This research was prepared on the Russian Ambassador Ivan Ivanovich Neplüyev, who contributed greatly to the Ottoman - Russian relations between 1721-1735 in the first half of the XVIII. century. The scope of the research includes I. I. Nepluyev's life before he became a diplomat and his duty in Istanbul and Orenburg. Neplüyev, who comes from a noble family, was included in the education project designed by Tsar Peter I in his youth and was specially raised. Neplüyev, who was appreciated by Tsar Peter I as an idealist, patriotic and successful young man, was assigned to the Istanbul embassy in 1721, which was a very strategic task for Russia. Neplüyev, who worked intensely due to the developments in the Caucasus, Iran and Eastern Europe geography, showed maximum effort for the interests of his country. After the Istanbul embassy, he was assigned to Orenburg in an unstable period with the change to the throne in Russia. This task, which will be regarded as a kind of exile after his career in Istanbul, is to establish Russia's military and political influence in the region. Neplüyev, who had a successful performance in this position, served as a senator in Petersburg at his advanced age. The main source of the research is the memories of Neplüyev along with G.M. However, some Russian and Ottoman Archive documents were also used.
