Abstract (EN)
This study, which aims to determine the vocabulary elements and core values in Sabahattin Ali's novels and stories, and reveal how the child phenomenon is reflected in the works, was carried out with document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods. The universe of the research consists of the works of Sabahattin Ali, and the sample consists of three novels and sixty stories belonging to the author. The works were examined in chronological order, and the quotations were presented in this order. It has been determined that the works were written in a very plain language even though they were written in the years when the efforts to simplify the language were adopted but the words of Eastern origin continued to dominate. The richness of the works in terms of idioms and reduplications is due to the author's skillful use of folk language. In the examination carried out to determine the core values through collocational structures, which are thought to complement the vocabulary elements, a large number of collocational structures, most of which are compound verbs, were found. However, the multiplicity of these structures was not reflected in the processing of the core values. It has been revealed that the core values are not processed at a level that will provide educational benefit. In the examination, it was determined that although the children in the majority of the works are decorative elements who do not have any function in the plot and whose psychological characteristics are not given, in two novels and eight stories, children who are in socioeconomic difficulties and who struggle against injustices are told. These children are depicted as people who have not received the necessary education and family support, and who have a presence on the street. Another remarkable feature regarding the phenomenon of children in the works is the misfortunes that girls experience due to perceiving marriage as a shelter, even though they are at the age of play.
