Importance and place of music in Safranbolu Seymenlik culture

Safranbolu is a region where cultural accumulations take place. This region has hosted different cultures and music genres from the past to the present in the historical process. As a result of this cultural accumulation, ahilik, seymenlik etc. Many elements-concepts such as these played a major role in the formation of these building blocks. Safranbolu region has been able to create a rich, regionally versatile and traditional music tradition by gathering different genres such as broken air, mixed hava and zeybek, which are the basic building blocks of folk music. At the same time, Safranbolu, with its rich musical tradition, has a structure that has given direction to the province of Karabük and its surrounding provinces and districts in terms of music culture. Therefore, Safranbolu has become one of the important music centers. In our study, 15 folk songs were compiled and notated under the title of "The Importance and Place of Music in Safranbolu Seymenlik Culture". Of the folk songs compiled and notated, 14 are in broken air and 1 in mixed air. When we examine these folk songs, valuable information and results have emerged in terms of strong sounds, procedural aspects, metronome, voice changer signs, sound width and modal analysis. However, when the transcriptions (notations) of the mixed air and broken air folk songs were examined, it was revealed that the b flat 2 modifier sign and the f sharp modifier sign were generally used. In addition, according to the modal scale, the 4th voice has been determined as the strong voice in the folk songs. Hicaz and uşşak makams, which are similar to TSM (Turkish Art Music) as a modal scale, were used more often and 9/8 rhythms were generally used. It has been observed that the works examined are generally in Prestissimo (with a metronome value over 200) tempo and in eight voice ranges.
