Abstract (EN)

Due to rapid growth in the world population, consumption of natural resources has been tremendously increased and caused serious global environmental issues. Sustainable implementations and green building practices have become crucial to prevent these issues and maintain the transfer of natural resources to future generations. As part of those practices, green hospitals are well-meant applications to enhance efficient resource consumption by designing environment-friendly buildings. This also includes creating alternative solutions for healthcare facilities where there is a usual consumption of high amounts of water and energy, usage of hazardous and non-hazardous materials, and serious waste consumption. This research is an investigation of green hospital criteria at four different health institutions located in the provinces Ankara, Konya, Istanbul, and Antalya to propose remedial improvements for other healthcare institutions. The evaluation of the hospitals is studied through qualitative and quantitative criteria: the amount of medical, domestic, recycled, and hazardous waste, the amount of electricity and water consumption, the number of beds, total building area, number of outpatient clinics, the number of inpatients and patients as well as cleaning and service qualities. The methodology of this study is based on Kemeny Median Indicator Rank Accordance-Modified (KEMIRA-M) which is a part of Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods, ENTROPI and KEMIRA-M have been integrated to make this phase more systematic and logical by avoiding random assignments of usual KEMIRA-M method. Through this study, a comparison is made between four health institutions by the application of both KEMIRA-M method and ENTROPİ-KEMIRA-M integration and the results were discussed According to the application result of the traditional KEMIRA-M and ENTROPI-KEMIRA-M integration, it was determined that the closest health institution to green hospital characteristics is the hospital in Ankara. In addition, as a result of the application of both approaches, it was determined that the health institutions that needs to improve itself the most in terms of green hospital characteristics is the hospital in Istanbul.
