A research of healthcare professional intended to determine the reluctance to lean improvement

It is stated that Lean production techniques which have successful applications in production plants have contributed significantly to solve the problems which occur in health institutions after 2000 in our country. Lean improvements that accompany organizational change meet with the resistance of health professionals. During this lean journey, it is needed to provide the necessary cultural infrastructure for improvement and common institutional changes in order to minimize the resistance of health professionals. The purpose of this research is to determine the resistance conditions against the lean improvements of health professionals who work in Düzce University Health Application Research Center. Within the content of this study, a survey prepared in the direction of "A Scale of Attitude Against Change" which is used in similar studies in literature was applied to 202 health professionals who work in Düzce University Health Application Research Center. As a result of the study, it is observed that health professionals are pleased with the change that lean improvement brings while they are not pleased with performance and rewarding policies. Institutional belonging is analyzed as pretty low. It is stated that giving inservice trainings in all steps of lean improvement leads to positive results. Resistance against lean improvement is determined as medium.
