This study includes the analysis of word groups in Sait Faik Abasıyanık?s stories, ?Havada Bulut?, ?Ay Işığı?, ?Büyük Huylalar Kuralım?, ?Karidesçinin Evi?, ?Yorgiya?nın Mahallesi?, ?Kurabiye?, ?Korkunç Bir Pastane?, ?Eleni ile Katina?, ?Falcı Matmazel Todori?, ?Birinci Mektup?, ?İkinci mektup Sonu?, ?1 Nisan?da Bir Erik Ağacı ile Konuştum?, ?Mehmet Bey?e Göre?.In this analysis, first of all, the determination of word groups in any component of a sentence is studied. According to whether these groups determined are available in the sentence, subphrases have been determined and given under the related headline.In this study, word groups have been divided into 7 categories such as noun groups, adjective groups, adverbial groups, verbal groups, exclamation groups, conjuctional groups and abbreviation groups. These groups are classified according to their functions in the sentence.In expression, groups that function as nouns are called noun groups. Noun groups have been studied under the headlines of possessives, adjective groups, proper noun groups, title groups, verbal noun groups, participle groups that are used as nouns and noun groups in the form of reduplications, noun groups in the form of conjuction groups, nouns groups in the form of sentence and noun titles in the form of +DEN??..+E groups.In this chapter, adjective groups that are in the form of adjective sets, adjective groups that convert into adjectives by derivational affixes, adjective groups with case suffixes, adjective groups that form as collective number groups, adjective groups that form as verbal adjective sentences have been analysed under the headline of adjective groups. No adjective groups with possessives have been found in our study. Adjective groups in the form of conjuction groups have been analysed in the chapter of conjuction groups.The groups that are used before verbs, gerundials and adjectives and that specify them and affect their meaning are called adverbial groups. These groups have been analysed under the headlines of prepositional phrases, gerundial sentences, reduplications that are used in the form of adverbs, adjective groups that are specified by an adverb and no stereotyped adverbial groups have been found in our study.Verbal groups have been examined under the headlines of verbal groups that are formed as noun+ finite auxiliary verb, verbal groups that form as gerundives+finite auxiliary verb, durative verbs that form with the adjunction ??ip? in the form of gerund+finite auxiliary verb and stereotyped verbal groups in the form of idioms.In the chapter of conjuctional groups, the forms of them in sentence have been analysed under two headlines of conjuctional groups that are used in the form of nouns and conjuctional groups that are used as adjective groups in sentence. No conjuctional group that are used as adverb has been found in our study.Classification and determination have been done considering the page numbers and lines. Sentence entirity has been eloborately watched and the page and the line of the groups stand on have been marked between paranthesis. But indicating the story that these groups exist in has been seen unnecessary.In the final chapter of our study, the word groups which are used most are defined and these are discussed whether they are useful for Turkish trainning In addition some identificationg about Sait Faik Abasıyanık?s language and literacy style.The thesis has been prepared according to the thirteenth edition that was published in 2002 of the piece ?Havada Bulut ? of Yapı Kredi Edition. All the stories that have been analysed are available in the form of copies in addition part.
