Vocabulary in Salih Uyan's children's literature works

The aim of the study is to concretely reveal the vocabulary elements in Salih Uyan's secondary school level works and the frequency of use of these elements. For this purpose, 8 children's works belonging to Salih Uyan were determined as study material and these works were examined in the context of vocabulary elements; basic words, proverbs, idioms, reduplications, proper names, aphorisms and local expressions. In the study in which the document review method was used, the books to be examined were determined and then transferred to digital media and analyzed. In the examination of the data, the descriptive analysis method was used and the data were considered in the context of previously determined vocabulary elements. The frequency program Cibakaya 2.1.A was used in the analysis of the data. In the book "Anlıyorum Ama Konuşamıyorum" 3.270 different, 16.105 vocabulary items in total; in the book "Nasıl Kahraman Oldum?" 2.541 different, 15.013 vocabulary items in total; in the book "İngilizce No Problem" 3.142 different, 21.332 vocabulary items in total; in the book "Anca Beraber Kanka Beraber" 2.899 different, 19.015 vocabulary items in total; in the book "Hıçkırık Krizi" 2.467 different, 15.075 vocabulary items in total; in the book "Sona Kalan Dona Kalır!" 2.620 different, 17.979 vocabulary items in total; in the book "Yok Böyle Robot" 2.868 different, 21.430 vocabulary items in total; in the book "Eyvah, Dayım Kayboldu!" 2.728 different, a total of 19.697 vocabulary items were identified. It was determined that all of the examined books contained 9.299 different, a total of 145.646 vocabulary items. The vocabulary in the books includes 7.316 different, 135.227 basic words; 22 different, 29 proverbs in total; 1.149 different, 4.020 idioms in total; 335 different, 729 reduplications in total; 445 different, 5.603 proper nouns in total; 7 different, 7 aphorisms in total; and 25 different, 31 local expressions in total. As a result of the study, it was seen that Salih Uyan's secondary school level works are rich in terms of basic words, proverbs, idioms, proper names, and aphorisms; and that they are sufficient in terms of the use of reduplications, so it was concluded that they can be used in teaching these elements. The small amount of local expressions determined in the examined works suggests that they may be insufficient in teaching these elements.
