In this thesis, the relationship between the concept of memory and "place" is examined. The memory of the place has been set as a kind of precondition. The relationship between the two concepts on the axis of the concept of memory touched upon how the practices of remembering and forgetting affect the space. The main motivation of this thesis; is the resources that the inhabitants of a place that no longer exists use to imagine the past. In this context, the collectivity and individuality of memory and space are touched upon. It has been evaluated how individual memory and collective memory transform spaces in art. In the modern period, the works of artists who symbolized the concept of memory through space were discussed. It has been a determined that public spaces, as a metaphor for memory, assume a unifying mission towards collective memory through monuments and squares. It has been determined that these spaces and forms, which are based on official history, are used in works of art to represent collective memory. As another domain of memory, 'home' is associated with the privacy of the individual, namely with personal memory.The city as the arena of modern life and urban transformation projects have brought about spatial demolitions. In this context, after the demolition of the shantytown neighborhood located in the Keçiören district of Ankara province, The memory of this neighborhood has been transformed into an artwork through the belongings and narratives of the neighborhood residents.
