Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to examine the pin joints failure mechanism of sandwich composites reinforced with glass fibers and epoxy resin. The specimens used in experiments were manufactured by vacuum assisted resin infusion molding method in Composite Research Laboratory at Dokuz Eylül University. Shimadzu AG-X brand tensile testing machine used in the experiments.Firstly the unfilled specimens with pinned joints were manufactured and tensile experiments were done. Secondly the specimens reinforced with glass/epoxy filling around the pin hole for various geometric parameters were manufactured and then tensile experiments were done. The results obtained are compared with each other based on appropriate parameters. The results are discussed, and useful conclusions are noted regarding effect of fillings on the damage mechanisms.
