Woman‟s image in Şanliurfa local press

The aim of this study is to discuss women's representations in the news in the local press in Sanliurfa and examine where the local press positions the women. Currently, it is an undeniable fact that media influences the contents, images, social perceptions, attitudes and behaviors. Media contents include the ruling ideology, which emerges in the news discourse presented to us. Representations created in news build by ideological factors are guiding the social perception of the audience / reader through discourse. In this respect, in order to define how a woman goes through the development process in the media, to examine the images of women created, literature review was conducted and "critical discourse analysis" was used in the "method and sample" section of the study. In this manner, it was tried to discuss how the woman was represented in the news in Şanlıurfa press.
