Özet (EN)
INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVE: This study is planned to investigate the effect of ketogenic and western type diet on pressure wounds. MATERIAL AND METHOD: In this study, 33 male rats from the Sprague Dawley family are randomly divided into three groups, 11 rats in each group, as the standard diet (control), ketogenic diet and the western type diet group. On the first day of the fourth week, pressure wounds were created in the back regions of rats in the whole group using two neodymium magnets. Total cholesterol, triglyceride levels, body weights and heights were measured at the beginning of the experiment, at the fourth and ninth weeks of the rats. Their BMIs were calculated. In the ninth week, Ki-67 and Interlokin-6 levels were measured. Tissues from the wound area (seventh and 42nd day) were examined with a light microscope. Data was analyzed with statistics program. FINDINGS: It is determined that the body weight and BMI of the Western type diet group in the ninth week were significantly higher than both the ketogenic and standard diet group. It is observed that there is no significant difference between the groups in terms of serum cholesterol, Interlokin-6 and Ki-67 levels, but only serum triglyceride levels are significantly higher in the ketogenic diet group. When histopathological images are examined; tissue reepithelialization and ulcer are found to be less in the seventh day of the western diet group compared to other groups; granulation, collagen accumulation, inflammatory cell and angiogenesis development are determined to be more. On the 42nd day results, in the western diet group; collagen accumulation are found to be significantly lower compared to standard, inflammatory cell increase and angiogenesis formation compared to both standard and ketogenic diet. CONCLUSION: It is determined that the western diet is more effective than both the ketogenic diet and the standard diet, and the ketogenic diet is more effective in healing pressure wounds than the standard diet.
