Abstract (EN)
Objective: Methods that analyze nerve function in evaluation of regeneration after sciatic nerve injury have been reported in the literature. The most frequently used analyzing method is the sciatic function index. This method, which is often used because it is simple and cheap, is not preferred by some researchers because of its low reliability. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the video-based motion analysis of walking pattern by using rotarod performance apparatus. Method: For this purpose, 30 subjects (Group 1 (Control): 10 subjects, Group 2 (Sham): 10 subjects, Group 3 (nerve damage subject group): 10 subjects) were included in the study. The video recordings were evaluated with a video-based motion analysis system after subjects walking motions on a rotarod performance apparatus were recorded with a video camera (240 fps) from the rear. Results: In the video recordings taken from the back, the time-dependent change of the movements of the knee and ankle joints and the effect sciatic nerve injury on both joints were examined in stance (foot contact) and swing phases in damaged lower extremity. Conclusion: We observed that apparatus used for another purpose can be used as a tool for another analysis method and we also concluded that it can be used as a method in analyzing of regeneration of the sciatic nerve.
