Examination of celestial bodies in selected Ottoman miniatures and new miniatures desings

From the past to the present, people have started a comprehensive research on this subject after they realized that the celestial objects were not stationary. The zodiac signs, which are believed to be formed by the movements of the stars and planets, have greatly influenced the lives of people and the events on earth. It is the science of 'astronomy' that provides this communication between the earth and the sky. Astronomy studies celestial phenomena, the sizes of planets, the movements of stars, mathematics, geometry, etc. examine using methods. Astrology, on the other hand, draws star maps according to the birth hours of people as a result of these observations, and repetitive celestial events such as eclipses and planetary slowdowns were conveyed to the public by the augurs with interpretations foretelling the future. Scientists studying the celestial bodies of the time contributed greatly to the development of science by writing important works. Within the scope of this thesis study, Ikdul-Cuman Fi Tarihi Ebliz Zaman (TSMK., B.274), Metaliü'l Saade (BN suppl. Turc. 242), Acâ'ibü'l - Mahlûkât Garâ'ibü'l miniature manuscripts named were examined. The original designs made in this direction were created with animals, nature elements and everyday objects by using planet and zodiac features, symbols.In the thesis study, according to the astronomy and astrology of the Ottoman period, the planets and the twelve signs they represent, the application forms of the miniature art were based and seventeen different character designs were made.
