Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine whether diverse group fitness exercises such as pilates and yoga applied to adult women who lead a sedentary life have an effect on the fms score, which evaluates cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, balance, explosive strength and mobility, and if there is, to find out which one has more effect. A total of 25 women, 13 pilates and 12 yoga members, with an average age of 35-45, participated in the study voluntarily. Sit and reach test, y balance test, flamingo balance test, vertical jump test, 3 minute- step test and fms test were applied to both subject yoga and pilates groups and the same measurements were repeated after 3 days of exercise per week for eight weeks. The data obtained in the study were transferred to the electronic environment and given as mean and standard deviation, and analyzed as a pre-test-post-test. Paired-t test was used for in-group comparisons (pre-test - post-test), and independent sample t-test was used for intergroup comparisons. According to the analysis, when the pre-test and post-test values of the participants in the yoga and pilates group were compared within their own groups, it was observed that there was a significant difference in the 3-minute step, fms, flamingo, y-balance, sit-reach and vertical jump test parameters (p<0,05). On the contrary, there was no significant difference found in the comparison of the pre-test and post-test for intergroups (p>0,05). As a result; although there is no significant difference between the pre-test and post-tests of the groups when the averages of the measurements taken are examined; while the results of pilates participants showed more improvement in fms, cardiovaskuler endurance and explosive strength parameters, the results of yoga group participants showed higher improvement in static-dynamic balance and flexibility parameters. This can be explained by the fact that the pilates exercise model has a more fluid movement content, while the yoga has a more static and stationary movement content.
