Oil storage tanks should be properly designed to withstand dynamic loadings. It is an important target to ensure the safety of the large-scale oil tank under earthquakes. Through the earthquake, the land surface proceeds in all directions and the vibration effect on tank structure are mostly the movements in parallel to the land surface which cause unexpected deformation in the tank walls. For that, considering the disastrous consequences of the oil tank failure, this study sheds light on investigating the dynamic response of three types of cylindrical oil-storage tank under seismic condition. This goal was achieved by using the CFD ANSYS software program. The test results observed the mode analysis and specimen responses such as accelerations and the deformation of the tested models. The simulation results validated with the previous studies based on the sloshing response and present the numerical results of seismic effect including deformation types and shape of failure in the tank structure.
