Nasal tip problems and the importance of graft usage at secondary rhinoplasty and cleft lip nose deformity

ABSTRACT NASAL TIP PROBLEMS AND THE IMPORTANCE OF GRAFT USAGE AT SECONDARY RHINOPLASTY AND CLEFT LD? NOSE DEFORMITY It's important to choose the type of the operation on the cleft lip nose deformity and nasal tip at seconder rhinoplasty due to latter reconstruction results, anatomical and functional acceptibility and useability of the operations. The aim of this study is to evaluate retrospectively the results of 30 patients, who diagnosed as cleft lip nose or secondary nasal tip deformity and treated with cartilage grafts in Çukurova University Medical Faculty Plastic And Reconstructive Surgery Department between 2000 and 2002. For this purpose, all patients divided into 4 groups, according to the aim of the usage of the grafts. The patients, both as a part of group and indivudually, classified due to etiology, demographic properties,the localization of deformities, the speciality of the grafts and additional used surgical techniques. We used the cartilage grafts at 7 patients for cleft lip nose deformity, 8 patients for nasal tip deformity, 6 patients for nasal tip and columellar deformity, and 9 patients for nasal tip and nasal dorsum deformity. At the end of the operations, any wound healing problems and graft exposition was noted. The results accepted as aesthetically natural and functionally almost normal. According to data, it's certainly needed to use these different kind and shape of cartilage grafts at reconstruction of cleft lip nose and seconder nasal tip deformities to have better functional and aesthetic results.
